Snow White Turns Four!

Julia turned four on Tuesday.  She is really, really into Snow White right now, which is cool because frankly, Cinderella is getting a little old around our house.
We had a small family party for her and she was completely spoiled with gifts.  I know she had a blast!

He just loves her.  And I'm certain the feeling is mutual.

Our friend Sarah (Bird Treats) made Julia her ridiculously gorgeous cake, that really no four year old could ever truly appreciate, but she sure tried!  And not only was this cake beautiful, but it tasted super good too!
We all had a very good day and were very happy to spend it with our loved ones!  Thank you all for the warm wishes and super cute birthday gifts, Julia is very grateful!  And we are very grateful for her!
We love you Juya.

First Day of First Grade!

First grade has officially started for Merrick.  We are homeschooling again this year and we are excited about all the things we get to learn!  Merrick is a super smart guy and I can't wait to see his full potential.

What to Give a 92 year old for His Birthday

We recently celebrated Grampsy's 92nd birthday and at first we were unsure of what to get him, because really? what do you get a 92 year old for their birthday?
So we decided we would make him something.
And this is it:
A birthday banner!  Now it is spelled out for him!
 Hey look a cute distraction!
We started with some scrapbook paper, which in our house is used for loads of things besides scrapbooking!

We cut the paper into our desired shapes.  We chose squares and rectangles.

Look another cute distraction!
"Come on Mom, let's get this done!"
We then turned the pieces over and wrote a special birthday message.  Merrick helped me to make it extra special.
Once we had the pieces ready, we lined them up in the order we wanted and took them to the sewing machine to put them all together.

We pulled some of the thread out so we would have something to hang the banner up with...then we took the starting piece and put it through the machine.  Spacing the pieces evenly,  we continued to put them threw, leaving some thread at the end to hang it up on that end.

Yes, Merrick is using the machine!

It's little hard to see in this picture, but I think you get the idea! It was a super simple project and Merrick was able to help with everything!  And I am pretty sure Grampsy loved it!

Happy Birthday Grampsy!  We love you so much!

Simple Weekend Project

Well thanks to Gram and Pops for taking M and J this weekend because I was able to do a few small projects around the house!  These picture frames were so easy to update, not that they weren't cute before....just kidding, but if you don't look too hard you'd never know they weren't black all along!  I have so many pictures to frame and picture frames can be so expensive, it was great to be able to fix these up for super cheap.  The spray paint was only 99 cents!  It was a little stinky, but hey, for 99 cents I am not complaining! And now I can add them to our wall!

Thank you to Mom for the frames!  ;)
